Car repairs

I finally took my car in to the shop last night for some long-needed repairs. I got a call earlier this morning from the shop saying that they got it in and had an estimate. Initially they cited a number of things wrong, with a total repair cost of almost $1000! UGH!

After talking with the shop manager, him reviewing the parts, and discussing the priorities of the repairs in terms of having a functional vehicle, we agreed on what was necessary and got the price down to just over $200. This is much more do-able right now.

I really dislike automobiles. I wish that I didn't need to have one, as I find them incredibly frustrating, but given the realities of the area I live and work in a car is necessary. I eagerly look forward to a time when I won't have that need and can get by on old-fashioned foot-power. It seems so much simpler and much less hassle...

Stupid cars. Let's move to Bloomington and get bikes. However, unless we lived downtown, we'd probably still need a car for something.

*rages at the machine*

Well, talk to you later, hon. *hugs*

Part of what I love about my location is reliable public transportation. When I go back to school in a few weeks, I'll be dropped off at the train by PB or the bus and will ride the El to campus. My classes are just a few blocks from the El station. I'm looking forward to the exercise.

Ask me again in November how I'm feeling about walking so much. :)

Moral of the story: You should move to Chicago. :)
